About me:
When it comes to choosing a restaurant, I always want a second opinion, so Yelp used to be a perfect solution (even though I never thought I would post my own reviews). Although their ranking system seemed overly manipulated, Yelp was a convenient source for restaurant info, so I constantly referenced it. But when highly rated restaurants on the site began to fall flat, I was inclined to set the record straight. Over 50 yelp reviews later, I had had enough and decided to create The Confoodant, a place where a network of trusted food enthusiasts could grow and post their opinions.
Is it just a blog?
Confoodant.com is still in development, but the network of confoodants has already begun to grow and are invited to post their reviews on The Confoodant blog until the real website is up and running. The blog doesn't provide the features that the full site will, but just think of it as a temporary home to start sharing restaurant tips with people you trust (and who trust you).

You may remember Thomas Valenti's work at Gotham Bar & Grill, but don't confuse that style with how he works as Executive Chef at Ouest.
This throws a counterpoint to those that say there is a lack of decent restaurants on the Upper West Side. Ouest feels upscale in design, but casual enough to feel comfortable. The lighting is matches the muted colors of the establishment and the jazz music compliments the open kitchen.
The front bar area is nice enough for a post-work cocktail, but Ouest's soul lies in the back room.
The appetizers are quick and elegant in style and presentation. Spinach and Sausage Stuffed Quail sets itself apart with subtle smokey tones. The Salmon Gravlax is also excellent.
The main courses boast an array of fish as well as uncommon dishes such as Stewed Honeycomb Tripe and Pan Roasted Squab with duck liver risotto. Patrons can also select from Simply Grilled selections. Yet, the gem of the menu lies in the Roasted Rabbit with brioche stuffing, pancetta, roasted garlic pasta, asparagus and lemon rosemary jus. The rabbit is succulent and tender, and pairs perfectly with the stuffing. The jus isn't overpowering and goes nicely with the pasta.
Though the dishes appear simple, don't let that fool you from the obvious time and commitment Valenti has put into this polished menu.
For those wanting to taste a bit of everything, I advise you to see the Prix Fixe--which is beyond reasonable for $34 per person for a three course meal.
