About me:
When it comes to choosing a restaurant, I always want a second opinion, so Yelp used to be a perfect solution (even though I never thought I would post my own reviews). Although their ranking system seemed overly manipulated, Yelp was a convenient source for restaurant info, so I constantly referenced it. But when highly rated restaurants on the site began to fall flat, I was inclined to set the record straight. Over 50 yelp reviews later, I had had enough and decided to create The Confoodant, a place where a network of trusted food enthusiasts could grow and post their opinions.
Is it just a blog?
Confoodant.com is still in development, but the network of confoodants has already begun to grow and are invited to post their reviews on The Confoodant blog until the real website is up and running. The blog doesn't provide the features that the full site will, but just think of it as a temporary home to start sharing restaurant tips with people you trust (and who trust you).

In a world where Steak has become a reference point of luxury dining, new Houses seem to emerge more frequently than ever. Yet, Del Frisco's truly sets itself apart. From the moment one walks in the door, the scent of Merlot sauce hits. Then the eyes feast on massive windows, fine carved mahogany, and butter soft leather. This is no quiet establishment. Waiters and hostesses are bustling around to meet every need. People are toasting and laughing. And all this is just on the first floor. The second floor bar area is packed with professionals fresh-off work enjoying plentiful appetizers and gorging on an impressive wine.
Needless to say, one comes here for the steak. Though the Filet is tender and the stand Strip satisfying, the Double Eagle Strip is king. Richly cooked and served perfectly. The generous serving of mash potatoes that accompanies it provides the right blend of taste and structure. Del Frisco's is also famous for having 'off the menu' items. If a Porterhouse is ever mentioned, you no longer debate your order.
Other than the steaks, however, Del Frisco's has an impressive selection of fish and veal. It would be rare to find someone who didn't like their crab cakes. The desserts are just like the steaks--large and bursting with taste. The piece of lemon cake is arguably the best dessert in Manhattan.
The food is the staple here, but the wine list is comprehensive enough to raise any wine guru's eyebrow. Bottles of Cabernet, Chianti, Pinot Noir, Merlot, and any white you can think of. Though one won't find a Rothschild, one will come close. And for those celebrating, the Vintage Brut (grapes from a single harvest and the driest type of champagne) list is incredible.
Though Midtown is overrun with tourists, its worth stepping out of your neighborhood to witness this monument to Steak.
